A gondolier befriends Katarina and shows her around Venice at Carnival time. When Katarina runs into trouble with a mysterious violin, Vivaldi tells her the story of his own life. The story is accompanied by selections of Vivaldi's most famous works, including the Four Seasons. The acting, singing, and chamber music are all superb.
