The story of The Little Prince was written in 1943 by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, the French aviator and explorer. A plane is forced down in the middle of the Sahara, and the pilot encouters an extraordinary little person, the Little Prince. "If you please, draw me a sheep," says the Little Prince. The pilot learns how the Little Prince left his tiny planet, inhabited only by himself, his sheep, and his rose, and learned the secret of what is truly important in life from a fox.
The film version of the book is extraordinary, with Bob Fosse (the choreographer) as the sinuous Snake and Gene Wilder as the timid Fox.
